This spectacular showplace Tropicana is a cabaret and nightclub in Havana. It was opened in 1939 in the suburb of Playa. Advertised as the ” Paraiso bajo las Estrellas; Paradise Among the Stars”, the Tropicana became known for its dancers, Conga music and colorful, spirited shows. The showgirls at the Tropicana, known collectively as “Las Diosas de Carne” (or “Flesh Goddesses” and the Tropicana became known for its showgirls. Renowned stars were Xavier Cugat, Carmen Miranda, Nat King Cole and Josephine Baker. Lovers of the Tropicana were Édith Piaf, Ernest Hemingway, Jimmy Durante and Marlon Brando.

Tropicana was selected from the twenty locations from where the North American TV consortiums ABC and CNN transmitted live to the whole world the farewell of the twentieth century, also has two facilities in two other provinces and is a National Monument.
