The famous pharmacy La Réunion was founded in May 1853 by the Catalan society Sarrá y Compañía, becoming considered at the beginning of the 20th century as the best pharmacy in the country and one of the best in the world. The third generation transformed the business into one of the most important business groups in Cuba, with 46 buildings, 600 employees and more than 500 products.
After its restoration in 2004 the pharmacy was made a museum and symbolizes the science and pharmaceutical development in Cuba.
This shop-museum continues operating as a pharmacy, while it has an exhibition area that explains the functioning of the old pharmacies.
