The Bodeguita del Medio is a typical Havana restaurant and one of the great tourist places of the city. In 1942 this well-known restaurant was just a small grocery store. Its owner, Angel Martinez, sold fried foods and some drinks. Among the most frequent users to the Bodeguita del Medio were several intellectuals who came to a nearby printing press. They, after carrying out the relevant procedures in the area, used to meet in the “bodeguita”, which was gaining some notoriety.
Personalities like Singer Nat King Cole, actor Errol Flynn, French Brigitte Bardot, writers Pablo Neruda, Gabriela Mistral and Ernest Hemingway are just some of the prominent names in the long list of their illustrious visitors.
